Peerlamarri is an 800-year-old banyan tree located in Mahabubnagar, Telangana, India. It is a major tourist attraction
located 4 kilometers from Mehboobnagar town.
The tree has many banyan trees which grow in its proximity,
like its children, hence the name. It is spread over three
acres of land.
In 2003, it was announced that there would be a special cover to commemorate the tree. Beneath the tree lies the tomb
of a Muslim saint and hence the name Peerlamarri which means Peer (saint) buried under the Marri(Banyan).
There is a science museum which houses some of the artefacts found in the palamoor region.
There is a small nursery and a deer park around the great Peerlamarri.
